YOUTH CONGRESS TO RE ORGANISEMadikeri January 30 Youth congress in the state is determined to re vitalize the party and the process has begun here, said state youth congress president Krishnabyregowda. Krishnabyregowda inaugurated the Youth Congress conference at Gonicoppa yesterday and called upon the youth to join hands and cleanse the party to emerge with shining. He said that the party would be re organized from Gram Panchayath level all over the state and committees would be formed in grass root level. He informed that the experience and advice from the elderly congress people are also sought and the party has high hopes of achieving success. He lamented against the BJP government in the state and said that the law and order system in the state is deteriorating. Attacks in the name of culture and communities are on the increase, he said. Former MLC Arun Machaiah spoke on the occasion and said that the time has come to wake up congress from its slumber. He opined that only congress has political future and he has erred in his political calculations earlier by shifting floor. He regretted that the BJP government is lagging behind in progressing the state and said that it has released only rupees three crore for the developmental works in Town panchayaths in Kodagu whereas the erstwhile government had released rupees twelve crores. District Congress president Veena Achaiah spoke on the occasion and called upon the members to show unity and progress .President of district youth congress, Dharmaja Uthappa presided over. MINOR GIRL MOLESTED; PEOPLE STAGE PROTESTDalith leaders and Stree Shakthi staged a protest before police station at Gonicoppal against an incident of molestation of a minor girl. Tension prevailed at Gonicoppa as the news spread. A third standard student aged nine years was molested by a 45 year old Murugesh at His residence recently. The matter was not reported immediately as the girl’s father was working in another town. Acting on the complaint police arrested Murugesh and produced him before court. The protestors demanded severe action against the accused. They also handed over a memorandum to the gram panchayath to provide protection to girls in their region. POLICE LOOK FOR MUTHALIKThe sree ram Sena supreme Muthalik is wanted even by Kodagu police. Muthalik is facing charges of making derogatory and provoking speech at Gonicoppal here during 2003. He was supposed to attend court and an arrest warrant was passed as he failed to attend. His case is due for enquiry today at Virajpet court. The team of Kodagu police which rushed for his arrest at Mangalore returned after he was continuing in judicial custody at Mangalore. |
