A DUNGEON CALLED MORARJI RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL!

Madikeri July 2, 2009

Morarji residential school, situated at Kudige near Kushalnagar is a clear evidence to prove that the governments are interested more in signing project papers for the purpose of statistics and not in their implementation.

Morarji English medium school was started at Kudige Agriculture farm two years ago. Two rooms were given from a government building to begin the school with a project to build a new spacious building. 150 students were enrolled to study sixth to eight standard.

The pathetic plight of the victims called students is an ordeal. The school has no separate rooms to stay or proper kitchen to cook. There are no dinning halls, compound nor proper toilets. Students are stuffed in two rooms like animals. The attached picture speaks of the situation the students are in. seventy five girl students sleep in one small room, where classes are also conducted! Same situation applies to boys also. Added to the plight, the warden also sleeps in the same room.

The Gram Panchayath member M.B.Jayanth told this correspondent that they have become helpless. He said that representations have been made repeatedly to provide a new building. He disclosed that the government however has allotted four acres of land in the Agriculture farm premises which has a vast area. E alleged that the department is delaying in providing records.

The parents regret that they have put their children at Morarji with a high hope. They state that nobody is bothered to provide facilities to pupil. the irony is that the elected representatives themselves express helplessness about the plight. Perhaps an amendment to law should be brought that politicians must undergo certain training to gain minimum knowledge about their duties and responsibilities and also the power and right they enjoy.

RULING PARTY CONGRESS LOSES COMMITTEES;

High political drama existed at Zilla Panchayath yesterday and the ruling congress party faced a shameful defeat by losing all the sub committees to opposition parties.

The election was held for the sub committees and the opposition party BJP snatched all the posts of presidents. BJP members gained all the five sub committee chairs. Three out of five was won by lottery as three members in all those committees had gained equal votes. BJP members won in the lottery.

President raja Rao presided over the meeting. Congress has strength of 15 members in the Zilla Panchayath. BJP 9 and JDs 3 and an independent. Congress had to lose as its own members did cross voting, defying the party whip.

NANAIAH TO FACE CONTEMPT CHARGE?

Deputy Speaker K.G.Bopaiah here has stated that M.C.Nanaiah has made derogatory statements against him leading to contempt.

Addressing a press conference here yesterday, Bopaiah said that M.C.Nanaiah has let loose talks against him and accused him of causing insult to the post of Deputy Speaker. As the elction to DCC bank scheduled for tomorrow is heating up, nanaiah in a press conference has said that K.G.Bopaiah is meddling in the election, forgetting his post. He also accused that officers are being pressurized to carry out heir needs.

Reacting to this statement, Bopaiah said that he is prepared to submit resignation if nanaiah can prove that he has crossed his limit. If Nanaiah fails to prove his statement, he should resign to the post of MLC, Bopaiah reiterated. The contempt will be questioned in the Sessions, Bopaiah said. He regretted that a former law and parliamentary minister is not in a position to understand the simple right od a Deputy Speaker. This is the reason why the cauvery Dispute could not be solved even when nanaiah was a minister, he cajoled. He also said that nanaiah has sileced the cry for separate state when he was a powerful minister during the tenure of j.H.Patel. it is a shame that the same Nanaiah is supporting the state hood now.
