AUTOMATIC WEATHER CENTRE AT TALACAUVERYMadikeri June 15, 2009 ISRO sponsored automatic weather station has come up at Talacauvery. The weather station would provide accurate weather forecast and day to day weather report. ISRO has sponsored about fifteen weather stations to Kodagu and they are being erected at various points in Kodagu, including Talacauvery. ISRO intends to assist the plantation community in Kodagu to monitor their activities based on whether condition. Photo: Weather Station MUDA SEEKS LAND FOR HOUSING;The Madikeri Urban Development Authority has sought 37 acres of land from the district administration to launch a housing scheme. Chairman A.K.Palaksha told this correspondent that MUDA intends to come out with a township and distribute houses to people. Palaksha and Commissioner Gopalakrishna told that the government has about one hundred acres of vacant land at Karnangeri near Madikeri and they have sought about 37 acres out of it. MUDA had formulated a similar scheme way back in 2004 and the government had rejected the plan on technical grounds. However rupees eight crore was spent on formulating Mangaladevinagar township. MUDA had received three thousand applications earlier and people were disappointed as the scheme never took off. A.K.Palaksha told that they have consensus of MLA Appachu Ranjan, Deputy Speaker K.G.Bopaiah and MLC M.C.Nanaiah to formulate the scheme and they are hopeful that the new Deputy Commissioner will sanction the land. They also stated that the jurisdiction of MUDA goes beyond Madikeri and includes cluster of villages. They informed that the files submitted by people for approval of building plans are being passed within a week. Palaksha stated that MUDA is committed to encourage tourism and would guide people to come out with proper projects. Tourism department will also recognize the upcoming Home Stay industry and he requested people to construct houses for Home Stay as per the approved plan. VILLAGERS PROTEST AGAINST CESCOMThe villagers of Haletaluk near Napoklu staged a protest against CESCOM yesterday. The protestors alleged that a transformer in their village was burnt out due to short circuit a week back and the villages in darkness. They accused that the CESCOM officials have ignored their repeated appeal to repair it. The protest was withdrawn after the assurance by junior engineer Thammaiah to set it right with the immediate affect. MIRZA AKBARULLA AS CEOMirza Akbarulla has taken charge as the new Chief Executive officer of Zilla panchayath. Akbarulla took charge from Ramachandrappa who got transferred. Akbarulla spoke on the occasion and said that there are files of Ashraya scheme pending since 2005 and he would strive to move them. Assistant Commissoner Akram pasha and other officials were present. |
