DCC BANK GEARS UP FOR ELECTION; POLITICAL ACTIVITY BRISKMadikeri June 18, 2009 Political activity is heating up as the prestigious District Co Operative Bank is all set for elections. The election for the board is scheduled for third July. Nominations for the eleven posts can be filed on 19th onwards and withdrawal could be done on 28th. The DCC Bank, presently a strong hold of Janatha Dal is a bit shaky with BJP hell bent on capturing the posts. Political activities are going on briskly to field proper candidates to snatch the posts. In another development, a BJP leader Talur Kishore Kumar has brought a stay against the voting by Grain Banks. About hundred grain banks were casting votes earlier and the High Court has accepted the stay. BJP considers it as a plus point. It had argued that allowing grain banks to vote in the election is un acceptable. Deputy speaker K.G.Bopaiah said that grain banks should not be brought under the fold of DCC Bank. A stay was brought towards this earlier also and it was vacated. COC MEETS CHIEF MINISTER;The district Chamber of Commerce met the chief minister Yediyurappa at a conference at Bangalore and apprised him of the developments the district needs. The delegation led by the CoC president Girish Ganapathy and general secretary G.Chidvilas handed over a memorandum enlisting various schemes and programmes for the development of the district. The delegation met him recently at hotel Ashoka, Bangalore where a state level conference of Industries and Commerce took place. Industrialists from all over the state were present. KING COBRA HELD, PEOPLE FEAR WRATHA king Cobra was caught at Sannapulikotu village near Bhagamandala and it died causing tension among the villagers. A king Cobra was noticed near a school on Tuesday evening by the students who informed it to public. People gathered in large number and tried to chase it. The cobra hid under a tree. Words were sent to a snack catcher who arrived at night. Struggle to capture it went in vain till 11.30 p.m. An excavator was brought yesterday morning and they tried to dig the root of the tree. Cobra was found at a depth of about four feet. It was pulled out with deep wounds caused by the excavator. The King Cobra did not survive for long. It was twitching in pain and the villagers felt pity and slowly started telling that it will curse the village. Someone poured water to it as it was spreading its mouth wide open. It swallowed a little and breathed its last. The villaged did a hat collection and raised some fund. The reason? A pooja would be performed to appease the snake God not to curse them! Meanwhile, a rat snake was also found in its stomach. |
