SOLDIER ON THE HEELS FEARING CONSEQUENCE;

The soldier who is missing from MEG regiment in Bangalore has done so to avoid consequences according to officials.

Hawaldar Dandina Puttappa from tannimani village in Kodagu, serving in Bangalore has been missing since February 24. His family approached deputy speaker K.G.Bopaiah yesterday and appealed for help. Bopaiah spoke to officials on phone and they stated that Puttappa has lost his identity card and he must be hiding somewhere as the card was not traced. This was the third or fourth time he was losing the card, officer alleged. He also said . major Poovaiah who replied Boapaihs call also informed that Puttappa was to retire on the same day, the 24th and he would have given all the benefits inspite of his losing identity card.

Puttappa has no bad record about his 24 year service in the army and the family suspects would he have left everyone just for the reason that he lost the card.

Major Poovaiah has assured that Puttappas service benefits would be handed over to him if he returns even now.

OFFICIALS FACE CRIMINAL CHARGES;

Officials are facing criminal case for creating fakerecords and appointing an ebngineer illegally at Kushalnagar Town panchayath.

Chief Officer Sheena naik, retired Tahasildar Anil Vas and planning officer Paramesh, ENGINEER Prakash and revenue officer Kenchappa are facing the criminal charges for manipulating records creating an engineers post in an illegal manner during 2002.

Preliminary enquiries conducted by the Deputy Commissioners office, state government and Lokayukta have conducted preliminary enquiries and found fake dealings.

Retired Tahasildar T.C.Thammaiah who conducted preliminary investigation on behalf of the district administration earlier had lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta to initiate action. Presently, a formal complaint against the accused has been lodged with the Kushalnagar police.
