BROTHERS HELD FOR KIDNAPMadikeri March 9, 2009 In a police swift action, the school boy kidnapped from Ponnampet was rescued and two brothers were arrested on charges of kidnap. The team of Kodagu police rushed to Aadichunchanagiri fare yesterday along with the victim Aiyappas father Cheppudira Ponnappa as the call for ransom was coming from that zone. The accused Gandhi alias Samiulla had asked Ponnappa to hand over rupees forty thousand with an old woman at a hotel at yadiyur. Police went in disguise to the hotel and the lady told them that Samiulla has told her that she will be given rupees forty thousand by some one for some business purpose. A long wait in the hotel yielded result and Samiulla arrived at the spot and was caught. Later the victim Aiyappa, a fifth standard student was also rescued from the backside room. Samiullas brother Amir Pasha was guarding Aiyappa and was caught by police as he tried to flee. The mobile phones being used by the duo to demand ransom was also seized. Samiyulla was working for Ponnappa and was demanding rupees ten thousand for some medical purpose. His son was kidnapped as he did not yield. JIVIJAYA TO JOIN JDS TODAY;Reliable sources have said that former forest minister from Somwarpet and a staunch congress follower B.A.Jivijaya will join JDs in the presence of H.D.Kumaraswamy at Bangalore today. Jivijaya traveled to Mysore along with Kumarswamy from Kodagu as the latter had come here to attend a Gowda meet on Sunday. Jivijaya would be the probable candidate for the Loksabha election from JDs to contest from Mysore – Kodagu constituency. He has the fame of defeating the once powerful chief minister, late R.Gundurao. Contacted over telephone, Jivijaya however said that he is yet to take a final decision as he has to consult his party workers. Former Deputy Chief Minister S.G.Siddaramaiah, who was at Kushalnagar yesterday was asked for his comment. He said that Jivijaya has promised in the congress meeting that he will not quit the party and he believes his words. HIGH COMMAND TO DECIDE THE CANDIDATEFormer deputy chief minister S.G.Siddaramaiah has said that the high command will decide the name of the candidate to contest from kodagu Mysore constituency. Addressing press at kushalnagar he revealed that formed ministers H.Vishwanath, Rani Satish, general secretary of KPCC. Mittu Chengappa and manchanalli mahadev are aspiring to contest and the decision would be left to the High Command. Siddaramaiah met the congress leaders at Kushalnagar yesterday. MLA Srinivas Prasad, Dr.H.C.Mahadevappa, H.S.Mahadevaprasad, former ZP president K.P.Chandrakala and others were present. MUTHALIK TO APPEAR BEFORE COURTFounder of the Sree Rama Sene, Pramodh Muthalik will appear before court at Virajpet on 12th. Muthalik was issued summons to appear before court on charges of making provocative speech at Gonicoppa during 2004. he had addressed the gathering on the occasion of a Hindu convention and delivered a speech. About nineteen others, including police officials who were present on the occasion were also issued summons to provide witness on the same day. It can be recalled that Muthalik was arrested by Kodagu police at Mangalore on second February on the above charge and was produced before the court. Providing bail, the court has asked him to appear on this 12th. |
