FATE HAUNTS THEM EVEN AFTER DEATH!Madikeri March 19, 2009 The fate would not allow the victims of lightning attack have a peaceful funeral even. The villagers in their native refused to accept the body of four and agreed to hold the last rights of just two. Six persons, including two women were killed by lightning on Tuesday at Murnad – badaga village. Among them Four had to be cremated at the banks of Cauvery at Kushalnagar, while the two others were cremated by residents of Ranigate, their native place belonging to Mysore district. The district administration took the body of the six deceased to Ranigate by 1 a.m after conducting autopsy. But the elders at ranigate refused the body of Jaya, Pushpa and her two children Aruna and Subramani. They said that they do not belong to Ranigate Tribes colony. They accepted the body of Yashoda and Shanthi and cremated them in the presence of relatives and elders. According to them Jaya and Pushpa along with her two children had migrated to kodagu long ago and they have no relatives living at Ranigate. Pushpa has lost her first husband and her second husband lives at Somwarpet. Revenue officials brought the body of four back and lodged them at the mortuary at kushalnagar hospital. Later in the presence of public and officials they were cremated at the banks of Cauvery by evening. Kodagu district administration has however declared a compensation of rupees one lakh each to the families of all the deceased. But the Mysore district administration has promised compensation along with a house and cows to the two families of Shanthi and yashoda who were cremated at Ranigate. |
