ELECTION OFFICERS ISSUED NOTICE

The assistant election officer Akram Pasha has issued notice to two officers seeking explanation why they failed in their duty when the election code of conduct was in force.

Sector magistrates Diwakar and Doreswamy are asked why they failed to stop two functions held without permission. They are warned why action should not be initiated

Against them under section 1957 RP.

In one case Prophet Mohameeds birth day was celebrated at a Masjid at Shanivarsanthe without permission. In another case, former minister B.A.Jivijaya held a meeting of his supporters to decide his political future at Somwarpet.

These were questioned by public as the election commission tried to stop holding Hindu Samajotsava held here yesterday and Bhagamandala temple rejuvenation function next month.

Akram pasha has asked the two officers to submit their explanations personally. Failing to which, action would be initiated, he has warned.

JIVIJAYA JOINS JDs

Former minister and Congress leader B.A.Jivijaya has joined JDs in the presence of former Prime Minister H.D.Devegowda yesterday at Hassan.

Addressing the function, Devegowda declared that Jivijaya will contest from Mysore constituency from JDs in the coming election. Jivijaya shared his entiments and said that he will win the election with the support of the party.

Jivijaya had defeated the then powerful chief minister of Karnataka, R.Gundurao through Janatha Party and shot to fame. Later he joined congress and became a MLA from Somwaprpet constituency.

Former minister H.D.Revanna and other party leaders were present in the function.
