ELECTION PREPARATION; WIRELESS SETS ALL OVER

The election officers and departments in Kodagu have wireless sets in their hands now to monitor the situations.

Rupees seventeen lakhs worth wireless sets are bought for the election purpose. The sets were distributed to officials. Sectoral magistrates, engineers, health officials, excise department and others will wield about wireless sets. The instrument has the capacity to communicate up to ten kilometers.

Assistant election commissioner Akram Pasha told this correspondent that the sets are distributed to all Town panchayaths and City Municipal Council limits in the district. Police, hospital and all the departments will be available at the tip of the finger, he said.

The wireless sets would be used by Town Panchayath, City Municipal Council and Revenue department to monitor development, after the elections, he said.

A control room is set up at the City Municipal Council building and a repeater station is put up at a height at Stewart’s hill.

CROCODILE ATTACKS COW;

The villagers were in for a shock as a crocodile attacked a cow at Hebbale village yesterday.

The eye witnesses said that a large crocodile surged from the Cauvery River and try to pull down a cow which went to drink water. The cow struggled out of its clutches after a fight. But its two legs suffered fracture and it cannot walk.

Range Forest officer Gundappa, Deputy Tahasildar Mahesh, Village Accountant Palangappa and others visited the spot. The cow belongs to one Erappa and he has lodged a complaint with the forest department. This is the second such incident being reported from Kushalnagar range of Cauvery.

IBRAHIM AS JDU V.P

Former MLA from Vittla constituency and a resident of Sunticoppa here, K.M.Ibrahim is appointed as the state vice president of the JDU.

JDU state president H.D.Kumarswamy has passed an order to this effect. Ibrahim is also the president of Kodagu Muslim Samaj.
