SENE WARNS BHAGAMANDALA PANCHAYATH;

Members of the cauvery Sene have warned the Gram Panchayath Bhagamandala to maintain cleanliness and sanctity at the temple town and questioned its action of taking rupees 1.4 lakhs for cleaning purpose from the district administration.

The Cauvery sene led by its convenor ravi Chengappa walked from Madikeri to Bhagamandala and then to Talacauvery to bring awareness about cleanliness and explotation of the places in the name of tourism.

The members cleaned Bhagamandala town yesterday and took strong objection to bottles of used brandy, condom and other items found in the garbage. They said that the sanctity of the temple town is diminishing and the Gram panchayath has to immediately swing into action. The group went to Triveni sangam and cautioned the locals and tourists who were playing in the water. They told them that Sangam is a place where they can only take a holy bath. The collected garbages were loaded in front of the Gram panchayath to alert its attention.

The group went to Talacauvery and spoke to temple president Narayanachar and manager sampathkumar. They were also asked to maintain cleanliness. Ravi Chengappa spoke to Deputy Commissioner Ashwathnarayana Gowda over phone and urged him to vacate illegal shops at Talacauvery. The members burnt Gutka and other objectionable items being sold at Bhagamandala and Talacauvery shops and warned them to stop such trade.

The Sene has said that it will once again take up cleaning programme on February 28 and warned the Gram Panchayath to speed up cleaning.


FOREST DWELLERS RECEIVE RECORD;

MLA Appachu Ranjan distributed land records to families of Tribes dwelling inside the forest.

Addressing the gathering at Somwarpet yesterday, Appachu Ranjan said that the Tribes who are in good jobs are failing to enter the main stream due to drinking habit. He called upon them to change their way of life and make best use of the facilities being provided by the government. He distributed records to families living in Sajjalli, Meenukolli and Hunisepare forest areas. He expressed happiness over the fact that the records are being given for the first time in the district.

Zilla Panchayath member Raja Rao spoke on the occasion and said that even though the government had decided to provide land records to forest dwellers way back in 1979, the records were not issued due to lack of political motivation’s member V.P.Shashidar deemed it as unfortunate that records are given to forest dwellers after 63 years of independence. ZP president V.M.Vijaya presided over. Taluk panchayath president Lokesh and others were present.

SLIPS INTO LAKE

An incident of a person slipping into a alke was reported from Injilageri.

According to police, Chandra, 45 was walking on the bund of a lake inside an estate on the night of 30th. He has accidentally slipped into the lake and died. His body was found yesterday.

The family sources said that he was suffering from epilepsy and that could have been the reason to slip into the lake.
