GOVERNMENT KEEN ON IMPROVING DISTRICT HOSPITALS;Madikeri February 8, 2010 The government is keen on improving district hospitals and recruit new doctors, according to Health Minister Sriramulu. Sriramulu arrived here today and spoke to press in the helipad. Answering a query that the district hospital here, built by spending several cores lacks basic facilities, the minister said that he will visit the hospital tomorrow and learn the problems first hand. He assured that the problems would be solved. The press informed him that the hospital does not have an ICU, burns ward, scanning, community care center. There is shortage of anesthetist, gynecologist, and child specialist. Minister said that the government is trying to post doctors to the rural areas by paying fifty thousand honorariums. He said that they bring influence from MLA’s and ministers and get transferred. However, he said that the salary is increased by rupees ten thousand and he is hopeful of getting doctors to rural areas. Sriramulu said that the C and R rule would be amended to make direct appointment of doctors to solve the problem and the matter would be placed before the government. Deputy Commissoner Ashwathnarayana Gowda, Superintendent of police, Manjunath Annigeri, district BJP president Sunil Subramani, City municipal Council President P.D.Ponnappa and others were present at the airport. The minister went to an undisclosed location for the stay. |
