COFFEE PACKAGE ON MARCH 8TH

Madikeri Feb. 28; Kodagu coffee growers and organizations are unhappy to hear the budget announcements which does not contain the so long awaiting coffee package. Many small growers did not clear their loans expecting a huge exemption from the centre. The nationalized and cooperative banks are in dilemma in collecting the repayments as they are strictly instructed by the concerned ministry not to force the growers to repay the loans until the package is announced.

The repayment in the banks does not even reach 50 % this year due to the pressure and the bank managers are worried to show their progresses as the repayment act created hindrance.

However, some public representatives are assuring that the centre will finally decide about the package announcement on coming march 8th.Dr.S.M.kaverappa ,ex. vice president of coffee board and Thara Aiyamma the present member of coffee board from Kodagu disclose that they got authentic information of the announcement of coffee packages on coming march 8th.The coffee board recommended files are cleared in the ministry of commerce and finance and the files are in the secretarial offices for consideration and the final decision will be taken on march 8th in a higher level meeting at New Delhi. Coffee board chairman will be present in the meeting.
