SPEAKER RECEIVES ROUSING WELCOME;

The newly elected speaker K.G.Bopaiah received rousing welcome in Kodagu on his maiden arrival here today as a speaker.

The party leaders and workers led by MLA at Kushalnagar garlanded him at the Kodagu border at Kushalnagar and received him. He was taken in a procession till Ganapathy temple circle. He performed pooja at Ganapathy temple and Kanchi Kamakshi temple and proceeded to Madikeri. Bopaiah was received by the Deputy Commissioner Ashwayhnarayana Gowda, Superintendent of Police, Manjunath Annigeri and Zilla Panchayath Ceo, Mirza Akbarulla at the Madikeri entrance. Taluk Panchayath extended a welcome to him at the Sudarshan guest house. He was again received by party men at Genearl Thimmaiah circle. He was garlanded and taken out in a procession.

Boapaiah inaugurated the newly constructed concrete main road in the town and also the Mini Wind Mill Power generation unit at the Town hall. He was felicitated in a public function at the town hall. Senior citizen N.C.Thimmaiah felicitated him. MLA Appachu Ranjan and journalist G.Rajendra addressed the gathering. ZP vice president Anitha, CMC president P.D.Ponnappa, vice president Latha Bangera, district BJP president Sunil Subramani, chairperson of the Kodava Academy, Rani Machaiah, congress leader N.Mahabaleshwara Bhat and others were present on the dais.

COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE SESSION PANDEMONIUM

Speaker K.G.Bopaiah today said that a committee headed by an MLA is formed to look into the troubles created during election to Speaker in the sessions recently.

Addressing the crowd after receiving felicitation here, Bopaiah stated that Bangalore MLA Hemachandrasagar is heading the six member committee to investigate the issue. He informed that he has received six complaints about the irregularity and the committee is given fifteen days time to submit the report. Action would be initiated against the erred, if they are found guilty, he said. He informed that the session would meet after fifteen days and he invited the opposition to work in unison by forgetting the ill wills.

Reacting to the position he has received, Boapaiah stated that it is the sweetest moment of his life. He said that he is the luckiest person to have received three various posts at a stretch in single term. He referred to having given oath of office to about 224 MLAs as an incharge Speaker, working as a deputy speaker and now as a speaker.

LADY EMPLOYEE TRAPPED BY LOKAYUKTA

End of 2009 turned out bitter to a lady clerk yesterday as Lokayukta trapped her accepting bribe.

Shakuntala, an employee of KPTCL here had demanded rupees two thousand from an electric contractor Dinesh to renew his licence. Dinesh complained about this to lokayukta. Yesterday the team of lokayukt led by SP Desouza, DySP and others caught Shakuntala red handed as she was accepting the bribe.

Shakuntala was arrested and produced before court.

LINE MAN ELECTROCUTED;

A line man from KPTCL died due to electrocution yesterday at Siddapur.

According to police, Teerthappa, 33, a resident of Bagalakote was working on top of an electric pole at Siddapur and came in contact with a high tension wire.

He came in contact with the live wire and died on the spot.
