LITERATURE EQUALS CONSTITUTION

Literature is like the constitution which has no caste, creed and goes beyond everything, said littérateur K.P.Balasubrahmanya.

Balasubrahmanya was addressing the audience after presiding over the fourth taluk kannada Sahitya Sammelan at Napoklu yesterday. He pleaded that society to leave atleast literature from the claws of casteism, gender bias, groupism and religion.

Speaking from the Nadikerianda Cinnappa dais in Guddemane Appaiah stage, balasubrahmanya said that the purpose of the literature is to open the doors of the heart touch the knowledge and intelligence in every living being. Illustrating river Cauvery which is flowing through different states to reach THE OCEAN, Balasubrahmanya opined that the Kannada literature should also grow and flow through difficult barriers and explore new places. Quoting the scripture which mentions “bahujana Hitaya, bahujana Kritaya ‘, he said that a literary work should also cater to many and not to a selected few.

Littérateur Jaya Appanna inaugurated the Sammelan by lighting the lamp. She said that the youth should develop interest towards literature as it should grow and sustain through them. She urged the government to support other languages like Kodava and Tulu which also use kannada script for writing.

G.K.Ravindrakumar from All India Radio released a book authored by C.S.Suresh.

Adressing the valedictory function, MLC M.C.Nanaiah called upon the people to develop respect towards Kannada. But he insisted on teaching English also from standard one. He said that love towards Kannada should not turn into arrogance. President of the district sahitya Parishath, T.P.Ramesh spoke on the occasion and said that they will organize Kannada Sammelans in villages in future. MLC T.John spoke on the occasion and questioned how correct is a kannada preachers son studying in English medium.

Litterateure Professor Girigowda spoke on the ccasion and said that the Kalamandir at Mysore was built during the regime of R.Gundurao and it should be named after him.
