HELP DESK IN SP OFFICE

Madikeri January 15

The Superintendent of police, Manjunath Annigeri has said that a help desk is opened at his office for the assistance of the grieved.

In a press statement issued here, he has said that if any police station refuses to register an FIR, people can come and register the case in his office. FIR would be prepared through computer and sent to the concerned police stations.

SP has also said that action would be initiated against the officers who refuse to accept complaint and prepare FIR.

FOUNDATION FOR NEW COURT BUILDING TOMORROW

State minister for law and parliamentary affairs, Suresh Kumar will lay foundation stone for the new court building at Ponnampet.

New Court is sanctioned to Ponnampet in Virajpet taluk after much fight and protest from people and advocates. President of the Virajpet Bar association, Bhimaiah said that

TRAMPLED TO DEATH

A person grazing cow was trampled to death by a tusker at Kattepur reserve forest.

A house wife Ambuja from Mallipatna near Kodlipet has lodged a complaint with the police stating that her husband who had gone for grazing cows did not return from the forerst since 14th evening.

A search inside the forest revealed a heart rending scene. Her husband Nataraju, 40 was slit with the trunk and thrown off after trampling to death.

Police and forest department visited the spot.

AIYAPA DEVOTEE DIES

An Aiyappa devotee from Madikeri died falling from a vehicle.

Sendil, 35 had been to Shabarimala with a group and was returning alone on 14th. He had an accidental fall from the bus and was shifted to Chamrajnagar hospital for treatment and then to Madikeri hospital in vain. Sendil breathed his last here yesterday.

CRIME BRANCH ARRESTS SIX IN CONNECTION WITH PETROL RACKET

The mangalore Crime Branch police have arrested six persons including one from Kodagu and are looking for another person Thimmaiah alias Shambhu.

The CRIME branch busted a petrol/ diesel racket run by the criminals. The accused used to tap open petrol main line and fill it into another tanker and sell it for a song to certain petrol bunks. The M.S.Pai petrol bunk here was also involved in the illegal selling and its owner Shambhu is absconding. Another accused Chandrashekar from katakeri was also arrested. Five others hail from Udipi and Mangalore side.

DCIB inspector from mangalore, prasanna told this correspondent that the Petrol Bunk at Madikeri would be recommended to be closed.

PEOPLE ENJOY ECLIPSE SIGHT

People all over Kodagu enjoyed watching Solar Eclipse yesterday.
