COURTS TO GET E - LIBRARIESMadikeri January 17, 2010 For the first time in the country all the Courts in the state will get e – library, according to minister for law and parliamentary affairs S.Sureshkumar. Suresh Kumar presided over the inaugural function of a new Court at Ponnampet in South Kodagu yesterday. He said that the libraries will enrich the knowledge with data’s of the constitution starting from 1956. The minister also said that the advocates should have an academy of their own like in the lines of academy for judges. Besides an E - CD containing law would be sold IN PUBLIC FOR THE BENEFIT OF PEOPLE at rupees 200 each. JMFC advocate P.Mohan Chandra conducted the first court proceeding and settled a case. The two parties settled the dispute through compromising. Justice V.Gopalagowda of High Court inaugurated the court building housed in the building belonging to Food and Civil supplies department. He recalled the great service rendered by the people of Kodagu in the army and said that it is a land which is the cause for peace that exists today. Kodagu in charge Justice L.Narayana Swamy spoke on the occasion and said that there are about ten crore cases pending in the country. Most of them belong to people below poverty level. While country needs thirty five thousand judges to serve in the courts, India has only fifteen thousand serving judges. Band of judges from High court addressed the gathering. Speaker K.G.Bopaiah spoke on the occasion and said that there is need to open more courts in the state and the government is asked to release rupees 160 crores for new buildings. MLC M.C.Nanaiah stated that there is no need for more courts and police stations if the society is learned. |
