NATIONAL FLAG CALLS ATTENTION

The national flag caused a flutter at Somwarpet yesterday and the Taluk magistrate had to rush to a school for inspection.

Residents of Somwarpet called on scribes yesterday and alleged that the national Flag is used to swab the floor at St.Josephs school and is dried every day which can be witnessed. A band of scribes rushed to the school and saw that a flag was kept for drying, dirtied by slush.

The complaint reached the taluk magistrate and tahasildar Hiriyanna and he rushed to the spot.

The principal explained that the National Flag was found by a student in a drainage and he instructed him to wash and dry it. He denied having used it to swab the floor. A student was also called and he said that he found it in a drainage near the school. The tahasildar adviced the school principal to be careful with the Flag and treat it with respect.

Meanwhile the Bhajarangadal unit led by its president Mahesh Thimmaiah has given a written complaint to the tahasildar against the school and urged to initiate action against the erred. He has threatened to hold a protest if action is not initiated.
