BHAGAMANDALA PILIGRIM CENTRE NEGLECTEDMadikeri July11: Bhagamandala piligrim centres attract thousands of pilgrims. But, the major problems here are unsolved by the officers and the public representatives. The pilgrims need toilet facility on priority. The panchayath has dumped waste materials inside the toilets which welcomes the tourists. No drinking water is provided in the river cauvery flowing area. The localites and the local farmers are completely neglected here. No proper busstand is provided for the village passengers. Buses park wherever the space available. Many Govt. office buildings are covered by parthenium plants and are in dilapidated conditions. No body is using these buildings. All these offices should function to provide service to Bahgamandala hobli villagers. During rainy season lakhs of rupees are spent for boating facility to cross the river. But, the projects for lifting the heights of the bridges are not motivated. Mass feeding is provided for the pilgrims. However, the project of constructing mass feeding bhavan is not activated irrespective of availability of funds. The temple maintenance committee is not formed following the supreme court stay for state Govt’s mujarai policy for establishing separate temple committees. The stay is not vacated by the state Govt. Rs. 80 lakh was announced during the period. But, the work has not been commenced so fory.Bhagamndala town has no drainage system. All the waste waters in the town and surrounding area reaches Bhagamandala sangama centre directly to river Cauvery polluting the Cauvery water.Even High mast light installed is under repair. District administration and the representatives arrive here during thalacauvery Jathra during October and instruct the concerned to make some arrangements. Remaining part of the year the area is completely neglected. Tourists and pilgrims complain, the localites complain about all these irregularities. It is left to local M.L.A and speaker K.G.Bopaiah to set right all these problems by calling a meeting of the concerned persons-say the villagers.
