BLINDNESS DOESN’T STOP HIM FROM WORK !

Rudrachari is 55. He resides at hangal near Somwarpet and stictches cloths. Tailoring is his profession. What makes him here important is that he is blind.

He has been stitching cloths since twenty six years and performs equally well with any other tailors who have full sight.

Rudrachari had good eye sight when he begun his profession as a tailor and got married. As the fate would have it, he turned instantly blind one night and was shocked by the ill fate. Though he could see for some time during day time with difficulty, he turned totall blind soon. Expert doctors at mangalore drew a line stating that he can never regain eye sight again.

He lost customers who were not prepared to give him cloths. Luckily, the Rotary club madikeri sent him for training in tailoring for blinds. He returned happily and approached bank for loan. A bank manager refused to give loan for the tailoring machine and cajoled saying that he cannot earn.

However, the Club also gave him a sewing machine. Today, Rudrachari takes measurement with a special tape and stitches cloths perfectly to the satisfaction of customers. His sons are working elsewhere. He takes care of his 95 year old mother and wife.
