ROOFLESS HOUSES EVEN IN 21ST CENTURY!

Madikeri July 20, 2010

The government has been spending crores of rupees for the development of poor and Tribes. But it seems that not a pie has reached these families slogging at Ranganadi village falling under Aigoor Gram Panchayath.

This village is just about nine kilometers away from the high way. Yet, they do not have any basic facilities and proper roads. Thanks to the few peoples representatives who took interest to clear a path recently for them which was disputed by two planters. But the question is where did the money meant for the development of the Tribes under various projects go? Did the officials draw any amount for this purpose or, are they turning a blind eye towards it? What are our elected representatives doing?

About nine tribal families live here. They have to live between four unsafe walls with dilapidated roof tops, calling it their home. The monsoon which is gaining momentum has vanished their hope and sleep as water falls directly inside. Temporary sheets and hay kept on top as roof flies away with the gutsy winds.

Strangely enough, the houses come under the constituency of the Zilla Panchayath president Vijaya. He did nothing to settle their life and provide basic facilities, the inmates say.

A visit by the district administration will unfurl the facts of negligence.
