RS.18 CRORES TO MODERNISE HARANGI CANALSMadikeri July 21, 2010 MLA Appachu ranjan told at Kushalnagar yesterday that the government has earmarked rupees 18 crores to modernize Harangi canals. Appachu Ranjan addressed the gathering after inaugurating the office and godown for Water beneficiaries’ co operative society at Torenoor near Kushalnagar. CADA, the Cauvery area development authority has financed rupees 3.6 lakhs for the building. He advised the farmers to observe the quality of works being undertaken at Canals to ensure quality. He told that he will try to bring the minister for water resources, Basavaraja Bommai to Kodagu and try to solve the problems of the farmers and to develop the garden of Harangi reservoir. Ranjan informed that a proposal of rupees sixty five crores was sent to the government tp repair the highly dilapidated Shirangala road. Zilla panchayath president vijaya spoke on the occasion and called upon the farmers to grow more crops by utilizing less water. Harangi Water federation president S.P.Chowdegowda, ZP member Ashok, vice president of the federation Mahadevappa and others addressed the gathering. MOBILE VET HOSPITALMinister for animal husbandry, Revunayaka Belamagi told that the government is thinking on the lines of opening mobile hospitals for veterinary with the help of private entrepreneurs. The minister spoke to press after visiting the Kudige dairy farm. He told that the age old Hi breed cow farm would be revived by spending rupees twenty six lakhs. The farm presently has fifty cows and the number would be increased to 150, he said. He also disclosed that those who are working since twenty six years as daily wagers in the department would be considered as permanent workers and the proposals are before the government. |
