SCHOOL TURNED CINEMA THEATRE!Madikeri July 24, 2010 A cinema theatre incurring loss had to be closed down at Kodlipet. Now since three years, the building is turned into Morarji Residential School. The department is paying an unreasonable rent of rupees twelve thousand per month. About 150 students belonging to backward classes study here from 6th to 8th standard. There are no separate class rooms, no separate staying facility. Basic facilities are totally ignored and the students are forced to live in a dungeon. Taluk Panchayath social justice committee chairperson Pushpalatha and member M.D.Subbaiah visited this Godforsaken school recently and inspected the facilities. People complain that a land was allotted to the Residential School long back by the district administration and nothing is done to construct the building. They suspect the intention behind paying high rent to the cinema building with no proper lighting and facilities. |
