PROHIBITORY ORDERS IN MADIKERI TOWN

Madikeri March. 3:

Prohibitory orders imposed in Madikeri town under section 144 by Deputy Commissioner K.H.Ashwathnarayangowda from today midnight to 4th evening 6 P.M.

Kodagu Muslim organizations have announced silent protest march in Madikeri town on 4th against the derogatory article published in a state level kannada daily on the last Sunday issue. Although the S.P.Manjunath Annigeri had a discussion with the Muslim organizations and stated that no permission is given for procession and the organizations are just allowed to submit a memorandum to the deputy commissioner, the organizations have not clarified about the discussion with the S.P.

To avoid any untoward incidents the town police have recommended for prohibitory orders which is implemented by the D.C.

The order strictly prohibits any public functions or processions, no movement of 5 or more members in the town and should not carry any weapons. The order does not obstruct any religious performances.

MOVE FOR KODAVA HERITAGE CENTRE

Madikeri March 3:

Move for kodava heritage centre at Balugodu in South Kodagu is in full swing. Govt. had sanctioned Rs. One crore during last budget and Rs. 50 lakh has been already released, Federation of all kodava samajas have launched the project in balugodu today, in an area of 15 acres of land. The cultural centre will provide seating to 1000 members and the skilled engineers will conduct the design work. A separate Ain house reflecting the family members originated house will be constructed to expose the traditional aspect. A special garden remembering the military martyrs will be named “Martyrs tribute” will be formed. Idols of great generals of the nation hailed from Kodagu General Thimmaiah and Field marshal cariappa will be carved and installed. Separate sections for children and kodava women will be commenced to carryout cultural activities. Hockey ground will be formed and special training will be done through proper coaching.

To Exhibit the Kodagu plantations an estate outlook will be developed. guest house will be constructed for the Kodavas who stay in foreign countries and the rooms will be provided to them on their arrivals.

The project details are explained by the federation of kodava Samajas mallengada dada belliappa, the president and mathanda monnappa, the honorary president.

MUSLIM ORGANISATIONS TO PROTEST

Muslim organizations in the district plan a protest tomorrow against the article published in a state newspaper.

Addressing a press conference here yesterday, former MLA K.M.Ibrahim said that they strongly condemn the article and the newspaper and opined that they have degraded the values of Prophet Mohammed and Muslim women. Ibrahim urged a CoD enquiry against the newspaper.

A silent procession is organized from Gadduge to DC office tomorrow.

M.E.Hanif, president of the Badriya Jamayath, M.M.Haroo, Aboobaker, Munir Ahmad representing various organizations were present.

SP SAYS ‘NO’ TO PROCESSION

Superintendent of police Manjunath Annigeri has said ‘no’ to the silent procession being organized by Muslim organizations.

Talking to this correspondent, SP said that the permission is not given for the procession for security reasons.
