BROTHER AXED TO DEATHMadikeri March 8, 2010 In a bizarre incident, a person was axed to death by his own brother at Ankanahalli near Shanivarsanthe. The incident occurred on the night of Saturday. Suresh, 45 was attacked by his elder brother A.M.Rajaiah, 48 with a club and an axe. According to Shanivarsanthe police, Rajaiah inherited his fathers house and Suresh was supposed to live separate. A daily wager Suresh could not buy a house and was often to coming to his brothers house to sleep. Rajaiah was annoyed to see his brother sleeping in his house on Saturday night and beat him with a club. As he was falling, he went in and returned with an axe. Suresh was hit on head, shoulder and all over. He died in a pool of blood. Rajaiah went absconding. However, police traced him inside a forest yesterday and arrested him. MP BLAMES GOVERNMENT FOR ITS BUDGETMember of the parliament, H.Vishwanath has attacked the government for its allotment of huge funds to Mutts. Addressing the valedictory function of Virajpet taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelan held at Gonicoppal yesterday, Vishwananth lamented that the government is ignoring the Kannada Sahitya Parishath and Academies. While Yediyurappa is enthusiastic to release funds to the Mutts, he is releasing peanuts to the Kannada Sahitya parishath and academies as a “piece work”.CM is acting as a class one contractor, he accused. Vishwanath opined that the government has forgotten the basic facilities like road, power and water to be given to the general public and is indulging in pampering Mutts. He regretted that kannadigas who make thirty percent of the population in Bangalore are disappering and non Kannadigas own lands. He also accused the government of trying to gobble eighty acres of land in the name of krishnadevaraya trust. Enough money was misused during krishnadevaraya pattabhisheka, he lamented. He opined that a fight equal to that of Gokak Chaluvali should begin again to save kannada and its properties. State kannada sahitya Parishath secretary Dakshina Murthy spoke on the occasion and informed that those who stay in Karnataka for more than ten years will be considered as Kannadigas only. He urged the government to teach Kannada compulsorily to outsiders who settle down at Karnataka. KAVERY SENE CLEANS TALAKVERIMembers of the Cauvery Sene, led by its convenor Ravi Chengappa conducted awareness about cleanliness and holiness of Bhagamandala and Talakaveri. Taking a strong crowd, Sene stopped the tourist vehicles and distributed pamphlets to maintain cleanliness and keep the place holy. They charged at the tourists wearing Bermuda and advised them to dress properly as it is not a picnic spot. Few cars driving in with blaring music were also checked and warned. Sene later spoke with Sampathkumar, manager of the Bhagamandala Talakaveri temples, temple parpathegar and discussed about the future plans to maintain cleanliness and to preserve the sanctity of the place. Ravi Chengappa said that the awareness programme by the Sene will continue for another two years. MONKEYS KILLED:BABYS SAVEDMadikeri march 8: 5 Monkeys were killed and thrown under bushes on road side at Katakeri village near here. One monkey was striving for it’s life suffering from attacked injuries and three baby monkeys were safe and rescued. In the morning hours today school going children heard the voice of baby monkeys crying for help .They found the monkeys and informed the nearby shop owner Ratna shekhar. When she went to the spot she observed dead bodies of five monkeys which were brutally killed by unknown persons. One monkey was severely injured and other three babies were crying for help. Ratna shekhar brought the survived monkeys to her shop which was then taken by Dinesh of Panya village who brought the monkeys to local daily newspaper office. The journalist informed the forest officials.DFO karunakaran took the baby monkeys and said that they will be sent to Mysore Zoo.The latest information revealed that the suffering monkey is succumbed to injuries. It is presumed that some areca nut growers might have killed the monkeys to prevent them damaging the arecanut product.Infact, before the arrival of forest officials to the spot, some local villagers were burying the dead bodies of the animals in a nearby estate,but was stopped by officials who took the bodies to their custody and conducted the post mortem as per act.
