SOLDIER DIES DUE TO ILLNESS;Madikeri March 10, 2010 A soldier Sajan, 36 died of ill health at Bangalore on eighth. The cremation was held at his native Channaiyyana Kote here under a sorrowful atmosphere. Sajan was one among the seven sons of Manuel 68 and baby, 55. The family doesn’t own a house or property and the parents were fully dependent on their son. Sajan who was working as a hawaldar in the army has put in sixteen years of service and was planning to retire next month with a dream to build a house of his own. He was admitted to army hospital Delhi a month ago with blood haemorrhage problem. As the weather there was unsuitable, he was shifted to Bangalore army hospital. Tahasildar and police officers received the body which arrived here yesterday night. CENTRAL COMMITTEE COLLECTS FACTS ABOUT ELEPHANT MENACEA central committee touring Kodagu to collect datas about the elephant menace and to find permanent solution. The team led by Chief Consrvator of forests, Ajay Mishra has visited Thithimathi, maldare, Nisargadama, Yadavanadu, Somwarpet, Kodlipet, Shanivarsanthe and other places where the elephant menace is more. The committee held meeting with the people, verified the existing elephant trenches and solar fences. People voiced their resentments about the unabated menace and urged the officials to find a permanent solution to it. The committee is sent on the direction of the state government as the High Court has ordered the state government to find permanent solution to contain the menace. Elephant rampage in the district is on the raise and lives of people and crops are at stake. The committee refused to talk to press which met them yesterday and said that it will submit a report to the state government. RESERVATION BILL; WOMEN MAY LEAD KODAGUThe new bill on reservation for women may slip the two constituencies of Kodagu into the hands of women. The two constituencies in Kodagu have more women voters and this will pave way for them to hold the reigns of the constituency. Madikeri constituency has 1, 92,490 voters and 96,262 voters are women. About 394 women voters are more than men here! Virajpet constituency has 1, 96,327 voters and women hold 97,322 women. About 1683 women voters are more than men here! As per the rule, a constituency would be reserved for ladies where they make more than 49.49 percent. |
