ROAD WIDENING HAUNTS RESIDENTSMadikeri March 16, 2010 The decision by the City municipal Council to widen the Mahadevpet road and Ganapathy street is creating turmoil and the residents, supported by few councilors from Congress have appealed to hold a special meeting. A delegation collecting the signature of the residents, especially the merchants have approached the speaker K.G.Bopaiah and requested him to postpone the widening plan as it will imbalance the life style. A special meeting on this 19th to take a decision. Meanwhile few writ petitions by the residents against the order will also come for hearing at High Court on this 18th. There are about 1200 houses and several business establishments in both the roads which would be trimmed and congress members are also appealing to the Deputy Commissioner re consider the decision. The CMC had passed a resolution for widening of the road in the presence of opposition congress members a month ago. However, a section of the members are now stating that they are opposed to it. Former president of Town Municipal Council, K.G.Harish said that he is not supporting his own members and he needs development. MUTHALIK URGES ACTION AGAINST TERRORISTSLeader of the ram Sena, Pramodh Muthalik has urged the government to initiate stringent action against terrorists and asked it to arrest all those who have supported terrorist Nazir who lived in Somwarpet taluk. Muthalik addressed the gathering after inaugurating the ram sena branch at Virajpet on Monday. He called upon Hindus to see that Kodagu remains away from ‘love jehad’. He asked them to strengthen the ideals of Hinduism and protect it. He said that Ram Sena will try to eradicate terrorism from its root. Senior advocate Narayan rao and others were present. N.P.Dinesh welcomed, Yuvaraj compered and T.P.Krishna proposed vote of thanks. |
