BOOK CREATES HAVOC: WRITER APOLOGISES

Madikeri March 25; A book written by a junior college lecturer created havoc in the Kodava community and when, the community people warned protest, the writer has apologized through written statement to newspapers.

Dr. J.Somanna,lecturer in Vijayalakshmi junior college, Balele has published a book “Dalitha lokada Novu-nalivu” in kannada.Although the book was released during 2007, the contents were not burst so for.Recently a copy of the book was obtained by Kodava samaj of Balele village. Kodava samaja quotes the derogatory remarks against the Kodava women traditional sari and also against the Kodava deity Cauvery..Samaj alleged that the contents in the book is the self creation of the writer and it is not at all even near to truth.Kodava samaj of balele and Other organizations have called Balele bandh on 29th to protest against the insulting remark said Malachira bosu, the Kodava samaj president and others in a press conference held here.

Meanwhile the author and the lecturer Somanna had given a written statement to newspapers apologizing the kodava community mentioning that if any contents has hurt them, he ask apology for that.. He assured that he will not write such comments in future. Infact Somanna is also an honorary correspondent for one sate level kannada daily (Prajavani).
