DOGS CAPTURED THE THIEF

Madikeri march 28: It is not a legend that dogs factually capturing a thief during the absence of their owner. The incident is reported from kanive village near Kushalnagar. Villagers were busy in attending the “Jathra” at Shri ramalingeshwara temple, kanive.All the houses were locked and residents were attending the festival. But, an intelligent thief thought of doing his job smoothly when the villagers were busy in the festival. He stole a necklace of a woman in the festival rush and directly went to house belong to Nagaraju of kanive village during evening hours. He tried to open the lock by hitting from a rock. Suddenly two pet dogs belong to Nagaraju rushed to the spot. The seasonal thief was frightened and started running from the spot. He has to take shelter inside the dried paddy grass heaped near the house. House owner Nagaraju and his family members returned at about 11.30 P.M.. They saw the dogs sitting cautiously watching near the grass heap. They did d not turned up when the owner called them. Suspiciously the family members opened the grass heap and surprisingly found the hiding thief!

Thief Abaidulla was handed over to police and the polioce have seized a necklace and key bunch of a house.

TIGER MENACE: VILLAGERS IN TENSION

Madikeri march 28:Tigers are attacking the pet cows inside the cow sheds of the houses in Balele village during night times. Three cows were killed by the tigers and the corpse, bones and remainings were found nearby the houses and estates. A villager A.G.Nachaiah was thrilled to see a tiger in the coffee estate and he became stunned for several minutes not uttering a word to prevent tiger attack. P.G.Karumbaiah also saw the movements of the two tigers which were moving freely in the estate. The tigers are wandering in Balele, kudambur,devanoor, rajapura villages and after the hearing the trouble the estate owners and labourers are hesitant to enter the estates for work, which they thought is dangerous to their lives. Forest C.C.F Hosamutt,,A.C.F Prasanna kumar have visited the spots and have deputed forest personnel to watch and protect the villagers. The villagers have given a written complaint to the forest department and they have warned that if the department could not control the menace, they will take law into their own hands and they warned that they may have to kill the wild animals for their own protection.

ELEPHANTS ARE CHASED

Madikeri March 28: Virajpet forest officials have started chasing elephants from estate and village surroundings to forest area in Pettaparambu coffee estate at pollibetta belong to tata coffee co. A day before an elephant attacked a woman labourer Radha when she was carrying estate work and she had been seriously injured and admitted to Mysore hospital. The estate workers protested in front of the forest office and the forest personnel under the guidance of Thithmathi RFO Monnappa are trying hard to chase the elephants from the estate.40 forest personnel are engaged in the drive.. yesterday suddenly a tusker was found and chasing the animal to nearby chennangi reserve forest was failed as this wild tusker didn’t’ cared the chasers. However, the bursting of crackers disturbed the animal. but the direction of its movement could not be changed towards forest area. The drive will, continue until all the elephants are chased to forest said the RFO.
